Annee Jones is an inspirational romance novelist who enjoys sharing her heart and imagination with others. She is passionate about writing stories that offer hope and encouragement and likes to think of her books as “romance filled with faith and a sprinkle of fairy dust!”
Annee is also a professional book reviewer for Publishers Weekly in the genre of faith-based fiction (fun tidbit: she writes many of the editorial reviews you see on Amazon).
Professionally, Annee works as a disability counselor where she helps her clients navigate through complex medical and legal systems while rediscovering their wholeness in Spirit.
A lot of people ask why I started writing fiction. Actually, writing stories was my favorite pastime as a child – that in addition to reading, of course! After settling into my career as a vocational counselor in disability law, my writing took the form of research synthesis – much drier than romance or mysteries, for sure! However, I always dreamed of getting back into fiction one day and tucked away storylines over the years.
Fast forward to Covid. It was my father’s 80th birthday that year. We were unable to visit him and he’s always been encouraging me to write my own stories for over 20 years. I lay awake one night wondering what would be a special gift for him, and in a flash, I knew I had to write a children’s book about our memories together. I got up in the middle of the night and wrote the whole thing! My daughter did the illustrations. After that, I answered a call for submissions for an inspirational romance collection, and the rest is history.
A fun tidbit – I do freelance work on the side as a professional book reviewer in the genre of Christian fiction. I’ve been a voracious reader all my life, and inspirational romance and cozy mystery are my favorite genres! I love happy endings and biblical themes that point to God’s everlasting mercy and salvation through Christ.
I now keep a notebook on my bedside table for middle-of-the-night brainstorms. Since I’m used to conducting research for work, I’m especially drawn to the research that is required for my historical romances. I love learning new things about what the lives of our ancestors were really like!
I've been inspired by too many authors to count! A few I can name offhand: Jane Austen, Isak Dinesen, Beverly Lewis, Suzanne Woods Fisher, Leslie Meier, Ellery Adams, Anne George, Tracie Petersen, Jen Turano, Amy Lillard, Sarah Price, Lisa Jones Baker, Beth Wiseman.
When I'm not writing I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, dance and ballet-based fitness, church, and bible study. I hope you'll pick up one of my books and come back to this site often to keep up with what's going on in my world.
Check out the book my daughter and I wrote and published for my father.
