More From Annee:

A lot of people ask why I started writing fiction.  Actually, writing stories was my favorite pastime as a child – that in addition to reading, of course!   I still have several boxes filled with my childhood notebooks and journals.  After settling into my career as a vocational counselor in disability law, my writing took the form of research synthesis – much drier than fiction, for sure!   However, I always dreamed of getting back into fiction one day and continued to tuck storylines away for "someday."

Fast forward to Covid.  It was my father’s 80th birthday that year.  We were unable to visit him and he’s been encouraging me to write my own stories for over 30 years.  I lay awake one night wondering what would be a special gift for him, and in a flash, I knew I had to write a children’s book about our memories together.  I got up in the middle of the night and wrote the whole thing!  My daughter did the illustrations.  After that, I answered a call for submissions for a romance collection, and the rest is history.

A fun tidbit – I do freelance work on the side as a professional book reviewer.  I’ve been a voracious reader all my life as well as an avid book collector!   My imagination often keeps me up at night, and I now keep a notebook on my bedside table for middle-of-the-night brainstorms.
